- On 31st October 2015, paying tribute to Sardar Patel in his Rashtriya Ekta Diwas speech, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi outlined his vision for ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’ program. This vision has now evolved into the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative of the Government of India, in which pairs of states would enter into a unique yearlong partnership. The year would be marked by cultural and student exchanges, giving an opportunity to the people of the paired states to understand and come closer to each other. This innovative initiative will lead to a enhanced knowledge of the culture, traditions and practices of different States and UTs, and will contribute to strengthening the unity and integrity of India and an appreciation of the beauty of its vast and rich heritage and cultural diversity.
- After the Prime Minister’s clarion call, MyGov organized a contest from 5th November 2015 to 25th December 2015, inviting citizens to submit their ideas and suggestions on structuring the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat program. MyGov launched the http://ekbharatshreshthabharat.gov.in/ site with the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Quiz on 31st October 2016.
